El Dorado
El Dorado (gold-fever) was the first project of the fashion and textil design students from the second semester. A project where the joung designers got closer to the fashion of a human body and got to know its artistic possible elements.
Catchwords like ambiguity, unattainability and nature spectacle did invite discussions and a play on words. To find associations, the imagination of mythical creatures which could exist in El Dorado, as well as their visual design and clarification regarding ambiguity, unattainability and nature spectacle caused a wide spectrum of research options and sources of inspiration.
We did not aim to use apparel fabric or to sew it up like usally, but the experiment on the substantial spectrum of plastic was the artistic focus. This substantial spectrum could be in layers set up, bonded, riveted, stapled or tucked. The change of stability of single materials from soft to hard or the combination of different kind of syntheticals should underline the meaning.
The colours were reduced to transparent, white and gold, because of the changing characterisitc of the material, so there was not just enough space for the visual, but for the haptic sense, too.
